Valentine’s Day is often framed as a celebration of romantic love. And over the years I’ve marked it in different ways: with friends, with family, and with partners. This year, I’m choosing to reframe my approach. For me, this season is less about who I’m celebrating and more about how I’m showing up.

In slowing down, setting the table, and pouring something beautiful on purpose, I’m making space for myself. This doesn’t mean the romance disappears or that friends aren’t part of the picture. It simply means I’m starting with me. Love, reframed, begins with care, intention, and the ritual of choosing a perfect cocktail for the moment and pausing long enough to truly reflect and enjoy it.

This year’s Valentine’s Day cocktail collection features elegant, rose-inspired drinks designed to meet you wherever you are this season, be it a girls’ night in, a celebration with friends, a quiet solo evening, or a shared toast with someone special. However you’re marking the day, let it be intentional. Let it be something you chose.

Rose Cocktails, perfect for Valentine’s Day

All three of these cocktails are made using my homemade rose simple syrup.  This adds in that soft, rose forward floral essence without overwhelming the glass or your palate. You can find the full rose simple syrup recipe here if you’d like to make your own. If not, you can find rose cordials and simple syrups in some grocery stores.

Also, I made my own rose infused vodka by infusing culinary grade, dried roses with vodka for a couple of hours.

Rose Strawberry Martini

This rose forward strawberry martini balances the infused vodka with a freshly made strawberry syrup. This one is perfect for a moment of reflection or a lively celebration with your besties.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Rose infused vodka
  • 1 oz strawberry syrup
  • ¼ oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz rose simple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients to a shaker with ice
  • Shake well until combined and chilled
  • Strain into a martini glass
  • I chose a Prosecco soaked, sugared strawberry for garnish

Notes

To make the strawberry syrup, add some sugar to fresh strawberries and let set a few hours in the fridge. You'll have a fresh simple syrup plus a strawberry topping perfect for desserts or garnishing.
If you love a strong martini, this one is definitely a heavy hitter, adding a dash of rose simple syrup will help to soften the edges a bit.
