I’m kicking off a new Color Cocktail feature where each month we’ll play with drinks in one beautiful shade. Since we’re deep in winter, it only feels right to start with white cocktails—frosty, festive, and just a little magical.

Limoncello Colada

I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical when I came across this recipe, but something about it piqued my interest. It was probably the limoncello that got me as I have a weakness for this yellow, sunshiny goodness. The original recipe calls for the cream version of limoncello, I used the standard version.

I made it for my friend’s Christmas party and it was a big hit. This cocktail is like a burst of summer in the dead of winter. So if you’re looking for a bit of a mental getaway on a cold day, give this one a shot.

This may be my favorite in this list of white cocktails. It’s very different and unexpected. And honestly, it may not be for everyone, but I think it’s delicious. And at least of the party goers truly enjoyed it, there was not a drop left.

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 fresh pineapple
  2. 16 oz coconut milk
  3. 5 oz Limoncello
  4. 4 oz Rum
  5. 2 oz lime juice
  6. 2 cups ice

Directions:

  • Blend all ingredients until smooth
  • Pour into your glass of choice
  • Garnish with some pomegranate seeds and mint
  • Enjoy!

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Eggnog

White CocktailsNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is my FAVORITE Christmas movie. It’s been my long standing tradition to watch it every single year the week leading up to Christmas. And I still laugh as though I’ve never seen it before and don’t already know every word. So when one of my favorite drink makers, Greg from How to Drink, made this eggnog, I knew I had to try it.

(And if you’ve not heard of Greg, do yourself a favorite and go check out his YouTube channel. He’s a trip and is always making some sort of awesome beverage, often inspired by one of my many geek fandoms.)

This was my first time making eggnog, and I was more than a bit intimidated. This is easily, the most involved and complicated drink recipe I’ve attempted to date. As I’d decided this would be part of my step-dad’s Christmas gift, I was up for the challenge. Turns out, this recipe is easy to follow and the eggnog is delicious if I do say so myself. My step-dad even sent me the thumbs up emoji after he’d had a glass, so you know it’s a win.

I used almond milk instead of regular milk, so it came out more beige vs white. Just go with it.

Ingredients:

  1. 4 egg whites
  2. 4 egg yolks
  3. 1 tbsp + 1/4 cup sugar
  4. 1 cup heavy cream
  5. 2 cups almond milk- can use your milk of choice
  6. 2-4 oz rum
  7. 2-4 oz bourbon
  8. pinch of salt
  9. pinch of nutmeg

Directions:

  • Whip egg whites until they form soft peaks.
  • Add tablespoon of sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  • In another bowl, mix egg yolks & 1/4 cup of sugar until fully integrated and lighter in color.
  • Add milk, heavy cream, rum, & bourbon to egg yolks with a pinch of salt and nutmeg
  • Mix until combined (about a minute)
  • Fold in egg whites (low to medium speed)
  • Pour eggnog into a serving container or punch bowl and enjoy!

Campfire Cocktail

This one’s simple, but tasty. It’d be great around the fire pit.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 oz Vodka
  2. 2 oz Baileys
  3. 2 oz almond milk or your milk of choice

Directions:

  • Add vodka and Baileys to a cocktail shaker with ice & shake thoroughly
  • Pour into a serving glass
  • Add milk
  • Enjoy!

I tried a fancy graham cracker and marshmallow garnish… let’s just say it didn’t go to plan.

Snowflake Martini

White CocktailsThis is a nice, simple martini. And despite its sweet ingredient list, it packs a punch!

Ingredients:

  1. 2 tbsp heavy cream
  2. 2 oz Vanilla Vodka
  3. 3 oz White Chocolate liqueur

Directions:

  • Add all  ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake  vigorously until well combined.
  • Garnished however you like ( I went with a silver dusted rim).
  • Enjoy!

White Christmas Martini

White CocktailsOf the 2 martinis included on this list, this one is my favorite. The creme de cacao adds a richer, authentic chocolate element to it, without being overpowering. I really enjoyed this one, a few times…

Ingredients:

  1. 2 oz Vanilla Vodka
  2. 2 oz White Chocolate liqueur
  3. 1 oz white creme de cacao
  4. 1 oz half and half

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously to combine.
  • Enjoy!

Whether you’re hosting a holiday party, planning a cozy night in, or just want to sip something snowy, these while cocktails will keep the season bright.
